Have you noticed the similarities between Hinduism and Buddhism? Buddhism may not be a religion with a central god or god-like figures (although it does not deny its existence). It has, however incorporated many belief systems into its faith, quite evident today in many parts of the world. Southeast Asia is no exception. In fact, the two are so interrelated that some folk may mistake one for the other. One common element between the two are its mythologies and legends. Without further ado, let’s take a look at some of them.
Buddha may deny the existence of gods, but he hasn’t ruled them out entirely. He believed in the existence of other worlds, mainly heaven and hell (which is also prevalent in Hinduism), and that these gods are merely angels populating the celestial worlds. In fact, in early Buddhist scriptures, he himself have ascended the heavens and met them himself.
So develop every aspect of yourself: ” Jesus grew in wisdom(mind) and stature(body), and in favor with God(spiritual) and men(social)” (Luke 2:52, NIV).
Liu Xing (played by Liu Ye) is a humble but brilliant Chinese student. He comes to Valley State University and finds the transition into American life a little bumpy. But Liu has the help of a wealthy university patron, Joanna Silver (played by Meryl Streep). She immediately takes a liking to him. Then Liu joins a group of space news students, studies all about the universe and its relationship with dark matter, and makes a breakthrough with some unexpected side effects. This sounds like it could be either a smart sci-fi thriller or a drama that’s trying to be something it’s not. After all my research, all I can say is I’m interested. We probably won’t know anything more until April 11th.
I believe that in order to bring peace on earth we need to understand the nature and modus operandi of violence. Darkness is only the veil of pain that the light sometimes hides behind.
” You, your joys and your sorrows, your memories and ambitions, your sense of personal identity and free will, are in fact more than the behavior of a vast assembly of nerve cells,” said Francis Crick of DNA fame. No more? But our deepest intuitions go beyond our bodies. We feel we matter. We look for purpose in our lives. We love soul-deep. We dream of afterlife- even people who have been told that they don’t have a spirit.
Jesus died for you to restore a relationship broken by rebellion(2Cor.5:19), and because of the “joy that was set before Him”-eternity with you(Heb.12:2). The goal is relationship and joy again. Why does He wants us to serve people and teach the gospel? So they can know His love and joy forever.Jesus became human and died to take our guilt and repair all of us. We are everything to Him, and He wants to “forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”(1John 1:9).That is the most important idea I have ever heard, so perhaps you’d please read this short paragraph again until it sinks in.
